At the beginning of 2026, we had the honor of taking part in the first edition of Skille’s Red Papers, an editorial project that analyzes key sectors of the economy through data, global scenarios, and authoritative voices.
The first volume was dedicated to Logistics: the sector closest to our business, the backbone of Italian manufacturing and a driving force of Bergamo’s industry and beyond.
Red Papers are in-depth journalistic volumes curated by Skille’s economic editorial team, focusing on the main sectors of Bergamo’s industrial landscape. The publication is already known for the Skille 1.000, which ranks the top one thousand companies in the Bergamo area by revenue.
As mentioned, the first Red Papers monograph is dedicated to logistics and transport companies in the Bergamo area. The 128-page volume opens with an introduction analyzing the current state of the sector, future challenges, and upcoming opportunities, supported by data from Skille’s database and contributions from national and international experts.
Nine thematic chapters follow, each dedicated to a specific segment of the transport supply chain:
We are particularly proud to have shared our experience in this publication. Our contribution, which can be read in full on our website, explains how a family-owned company founded in 1997 has earned the trust of major enterprises by focusing on what large logistics operators often lose: customized service.
In our contribution, we explored four key elements of our operations.
Our strategy is clear: each type of goods deserves its own dedicated space. We organize our warehouses according to product categories, allowing precise tracking and continuous control. By grouping clients from the same supply chain in the same facility, we optimize resources and improve service quality.
For example, our Brembate warehouse has become our hub for the fashion sector, where specific expertise and dedicated equipment make the difference.
Our work goes far beyond storage and transportation. When goods arrive at our warehouses, we handle their complete preparation: opening, quality control, and packaging according to required specifications. This integrated packaging service allows our clients to receive products ready for retail sale, reducing intermediate steps and accelerating the entire distribution chain.
Originally operating as logistics providers, we progressively integrated transport services to offer complete support to our partners. Our owned fleet of trucks and vans covers Northern Italy directly, while for the rest of the country and international destinations we collaborate with selected carriers.
What distinguishes us is personalization. Each client receives the most suitable transport solution for their goods, with agreed schedules and tailored solutions for specific needs.
A topic particularly close to us, and one we emphasized in Red Papers, is our position on automation. In our warehouses, automation is implemented only where it truly adds value. As our Transport Manager, Carlo Bighetti, explained:
“If you are a company that produces the same product in series, with identical dimensions, then you can automate everything. But our strength lies in tailored service and product diversification. Client needs change every day. Automation is rigid. We are flexible.”
Even in client relationships, technology does not replace the human factor. Partners who entrust us with outsourced warehousing experience it as an extension of their own company. They need to know who they are speaking with, to feel supported. Those who contact LDE are looking for a response, a person, a solution.
On January 29, we took part in the Red Papers presentation event, which brought together leading logistics companies in the Bergamo area, trade associations, and industry experts. Among the participants were ISPI – Italian Institute for International Political Studies, FAI – Italian Road Hauliers Federation, ASCO – Association of Freight Forwarders and Couriers of Bergamo, and the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce.
As Patrizio Ricci, member of the Bergamo Chamber of Commerce Board, stated during the event:
“The impact of Logistics on our province’s economy is enormous, because Bergamo’s production is primarily designed for export.”
For LDE, the event was also an opportunity to explore a strategic topic: logistics management for e-commerce. Our Sales Manager, Massimo Gigliotti, illustrated how we address the daily challenges of e-commerce:
“It is a segment that brings its own challenges, because you need to be flexible and fast. On average, we handle hundreds of orders per day. During peak periods, we reach five thousand daily requests.”
Managing these volumes requires efficient infrastructure. For this reason, our warehouses are positioned along the A4 motorway, between Milan, Bergamo, and Brescia, allowing fast order fulfillment for online commerce and the fashion sector.

E-commerce requires a completely different approach from traditional logistics. The key concept is the cut-off time: the deadline by which orders must be received and processed to enable next-day delivery.
In our case, the cut-off is set at 2:00 PM. Everything received before that time is shipped the same day, with delivery scheduled for the following day. Orders arriving after the cut-off are processed in the next day’s cycle. Our team has one hour, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM, to complete fulfillment and hand shipments over to express couriers.
What appears to the end customer as a simple click becomes a structured operational process in our warehouses. Every two hours, order flows are received and immediately processed. Our operators pick products from their designated locations, move them to packaging stations via automated conveyors, and apply identification labels.
The final stage is strategic sorting. Instead of relying on a single carrier, we distribute shipments among different partners, selecting for each parcel the most efficient courier based on destination and product type.
This work organization enables us to manage both same-day shipments and highly seasonal products. As Carlo Bighetti explained: “The advantage of a company like ours is having clients with different seasonality patterns, allowing us to balance warehouse activities throughout the year.”
This flexibility enables us to process very high volumes during peak periods, such as the final two months of the year. If you manage an online retail business, our e-commerce logistics services are designed to support B2C operations with complete inventory management, customized pick and pack, fast shipping, and efficient returns management.
Skille’s Red Papers gave us the opportunity to present our way of working: tailored services, strong client relationships, operational flexibility, and attention to detail. Values we have upheld since 1997 and that continue to guide us every day.
